Expert ISO 9001 consulting for Australian businesses. We build your management system from scratch, guide you through every step, and support you through the certification audit.

ISO 9001 is the international standard for quality management systems. It defines what a business needs to have in place to consistently deliver what it promises to customers - every time, regardless of who is doing the work or what circumstances arise. ISO 9001:2015 is the current version, recognised in every country in the world.
First published in 1987 and most recently updated in 2015, ISO 9001:2015 is the version currently in use. It is published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and is applicable to any organisation, regardless of size, industry, or whether it is in the public or private sector.
More than one million organisations across 170 countries hold ISO 9001 certification. In Australia, it is one of the most widely recognised quality credentials across construction, manufacturing, engineering, professional services, healthcare, and government supply chains.
ISO 9001 is not a product standard. It does not tell you what your product or service must look like. It tells you how your business must operate, how you manage processes, how you handle non-conformances, how you measure customer satisfaction, and how you continuously improve.
Government contracts, large construction projects, and major supply chains increasingly list ISO 9001 certification as a minimum requirement. If you are bidding for work and your competitors are certified, you are at a disadvantage. If the tender document lists ISO 9001 as a requirement, you cannot submit without it.

Rework, complaints, inconsistent output, key-person dependency: these are the signs of a business that has outgrown informal processes. ISO 9001 gives you a framework to bring that under control.
Beyond compliance and tender eligibility, businesses that implement ISO 9001 properly typically see:

Certification to ISO9001 Quality shows, clients, partners and regulators that your organisation follows a disciplined, transparent approach to quality. It demonstrates that you can meet the requirements, manage risk, and continually improve - essential attributes for sustainable success.
ISO 9001:2015 is structured around ten clauses. Clauses 1-3 are introductory. The requirements you must meet are in Clauses 4-10.
You must understand the internal and external issues that affect your ability to deliver quality. This includes identifying interested parties (customers, regulators, staff, suppliers) and their requirements. You must also define the scope of your quality management system.
Top management must be visibly committed to the QMS. This means setting a quality policy, assigning responsibilities, and ensuring the QMS is integrated into business processes; not bolted on as a separate compliance exercise.
You must identify risks and opportunities that could affect your quality outcomes and plan actions to address them. You must also set measurable quality objectives and plan how to achieve them.
The QMS needs the right resources: people, infrastructure, measurement equipment, and documented information. Staff must be competent for the roles they perform, and you must be able to demonstrate that competence.
This is the largest clause. It covers how you plan and control your operational processes, manage customer requirements, control design and development, manage suppliers and outsourced processes, manage production and service delivery, control nonconforming outputs, and handle customer property.
You must monitor, measure, analyse, and evaluate the performance of your QMS. This includes customer satisfaction measurement, internal audits, and management review meetings.
When things go wrong, you must have a process for identifying the root cause and preventing recurrence. Continual improvement is not optional under ISO 9001, it's a requirement.
ISO 9001 certification is about proving your business has a consistent, well-managed system for delivering quality products or services and that you can demonstrate it.
It’s not just paperwork. Done properly, it’s a structured way to run your business better.
Thats what ComplyOn does - get your ISO9001 Quality Management System ready for certification
The auditor reviews your QMS documentation to confirm it meets the requirements of the standard. They are checking that you have the right policies, procedures, and processes in place on paper.
The auditor visits your site (or conducts a remote audit) to verify that your documented QMS is actually being followed. They will interview staff, review records, and test that your processes work as described. If you pass both stages, you receive your ISO 9001 certificate. The certificate is valid for three years, with annual surveillance audits in years one and two. At the end of year three, you undergo a recertification audit.
After the auditor has done their thing, the accredited conformity assessment body, reviews their work and then makes a final decision on whether ISO9001 Quality certification should be granted - and issue the certificate.
We do not hand you a template folder and leave you to figure it out. We build your quality management system with you, and we take responsibility for getting you to certification.
We review your current operations against the requirements of ISO 9001:2015. We identify what you already have that meets the standard, what needs to be developed, and what needs to change. This gives us a clear scope of work and forms the basis for your fixed price.
We build your QMS around how your business actually operates. That means writing procedures in plain English, not copying from a generic template. The documents we produce will be used by your staff: they need to make sense to a real person doing a real job.
We work with your team to implement the system. This includes staff awareness training, helping managers understand their responsibilities under the QMS, and working through any operational changes required.
Before your certification audit, we conduct an internal audit to identify any gaps or non-conformances. We fix them before the auditor arrives.
We are available throughout your Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits. If the auditor raises a finding, we help you respond.
After certification, we provide a handover so your team understands how to maintain the system. If you want ongoing support, our Stay Certified service covers annual surveillance audits, internal audits, and system updates.
ISO 9001 is required or strongly recommended for businesses supplying to principal contractors, winning government tenders, or demonstrating quality commitment to secure better clients. The most common trigger is a customer making it a condition of supply.
ISO 9001 or combined with 45001 and 14001 is a common requirement for local council, tier 1 contractor, state or federal government panels and tenders.
ISO9001 is a common requirement to access government tenders, export customers and large organisation contracts
ISO9001 is required for many government tenders, tier 1 panels and for accessing large customer work
ISO9001 or an integrated (HSEQ) management system for government tenders, or tier 1 panels
Large customers often require their suppliers to have ISO9001 Certification for the transportation or warehousing of goods
ISO9001 and sometimes combined with ISO27001 is a requirement of government and large corporations for tech companies including SaaS, data centres, services

Maintenance, audits and system recovery
Already certified but struggling to maintain it? We help businesses whose systems have drifted get back on track, and put in place the habits to stay there without ongoing consultant dependency.
This is right for you if: Your surveillance audit is approaching, your internal audit is overdue, or your system hasn't been touched in months.
Internal audit is one of the most commonly searched ISO services - and one of the things businesses most often let slip. We conduct ISO internal audits as a standalone engagement, with a full written report and corrective action plan. Works for any ISO standard.
ISO 9001 is often implemented alongside other management system standards. If your business needs more than quality management, these are some of the standards we work with.
The international standard for occupational health and safety management systems. Required in many construction, mining, and infrastructure supply chains. Shares the same structure as ISO 9001, making integration straightforward.
The international standard for environmental management systems. Required for businesses with significant environmental impact or those supplying to clients with environmental obligations.
The international standard for information security management systems. Increasingly required in government, finance, healthcare, and any business handling sensitive data.
If your business needs ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001, we can implement all three as a single integrated system. One set of documentation, one internal audit programme, one management review. More efficient to build and easier to maintain.
